Phil Hughes and Counting...

A couple days ago, Christopher posted a random name "Mike Zagurski" to my Facebook page.  At first, I thought it was his Travoltified name from the meme that was poking fun at John Travolta's goof in badly pronouncing Idina Menzel's name at the Oscars a few days before.  Then I googled "Mike Zagurski" and discovered he was a former pitcher for the New York Yankees.  Ok, weird.  But figured Christopher would tell me eventually.  The next day he again posted another random name "Andrew Brackman" on my Facebook page.  Googled the name, and again, it was another former Yankees pitcher.  Hmmm... I'm sensing a theme here.  I ask him why he was posting former Yankees players on my page, and all he replies back is "You're on the right track."  So, it's a guessing game for me.  Most people know I'm a big puzzle geek, and I love solving riddles.  Anyway, I tried to look up both players and nothing is clicking.  I can't make the connection between them and why it would be relevant to post on my page.  Later that day, I was thinking about the wedding, how quickly it's coming up, and how excited I'm getting.  I start to wonder if Christopher is getting as excited as I am.  Then it dawns on me, "Hey, wait a minute?  What were these guys jersey numbers when they were on the Yankees?"  I look them up, and it turns out that their respective Yankees jersey numbers (67 and 66) are the number of days until our wedding.  Oh my gosh, it's so adorkable.  I love it and him!  This pretty much sums up how we do romance.  Nothing too sappy, but meaningful and staying true to ourselves, complete with all our quirks.

So, with Phil Hughes days and counting, we have a got a lot of stuff done and even more fun, exciting things to come in the next month.  Last month, we bought our wedding rings.  We've finalized the wedding day transportation and the hair and makeup for the ladies of the bridal party.  I had my final dress fitting.  And we're currently figuring out ceremony details like music and readings.  In Derek Jeter days, I'm going to New Orleans for my bachelorette trip with some of my favorite ladies.  Later in the month is my bridal shower and a weekend of fun here in Virginia for those bridesmaids, close family and friends who couldn't make New Orleans.  It'll be the first time that my closest family and friends will all be in the same place and I didn't have to do any of the long distance travelling.  ;-)  So much to look forward to in the coming days, the most important of which is the start of our married life together.  So excited and can't wait to celebrate with all of you.

Where has the time gone?

We're fast approaching the 3 months out from the wedding mark, and I'm left wondering where has the time gone?  It's all gone by so fast.

After taking a little break from wedding planning over the holidays, it's gone into high gear in the new year.  Here are some of the highlights:

  • We booked our last major vendor, our florist, the first week in January.  Green Arbor has been great to work with and very reasonably priced.  This has been especially appreciated since they were one of the few florists who didn't laugh at us when we asked about their availability for a wedding on Mother's Day weekend.  ;-)
  • We created our registries a couple weeks ago.  For more information, see Our Registry page.
  • We've been working with Caitlin from Wouldn't It Be Lovely on the design of our invitations.  A stationery geek at heart, I had a particular vision of of what I wanted after being inspired by the invitation of another Gettysburg wedding I found online.  However I was unable to find anything close on most online invitation design sites.  A friend referred me to Caitlin, and she has been a dream to work with.  The process has been a great collaboration, and she was able to create even more than I had originally envisioned.  If you get a chance, check our her work, especially her blog which has a couple sneak peeks of our invitation.  ;-)

There's a lot more that we're working on, but I'll leave that for another day, another post.
